Orientation Letter – August 2017

Dear Weaver Families,

I hope that you are enjoying the summer break and treasuring your time with family & friends!

As I write this letter I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve so many wonderful children and families!  What a blessing you are to all of us.

The Weaver staff have been very busy this summer moving into our new location and getting classrooms ready!  What a team we have!  The classrooms are absolutely beautiful and I am so excited for you all to see them! ☺ On Tuesday, August 15th between 10:00am – 2:00pm the teachers will be working in their classrooms and we would like for you to drop in anytime between those hours.  Children can say ‘hello’ to their teachers and see their new classrooms.  This would also be a GREAT time to drop off your child’s paperwork and school supplies (list attached)!

So that we may start the year refreshed, the school offices are closed during the month of July and beginning of August.  We will open on Monday, August 14th.  The school calendar is up-to-date on our website weavercdc.org, so please refer to that for future dates/times.

There is a Parent Orientation on the evening of Monday, August 21st from 6:30PM-8:00PM (we cannot accommodate children for this meeting).  It will be held at our new location 515 48th St. NW Canton, OH 44709.  We will meet for a short time as a whole group and then divide into small groups with your child’s classroom teacher.  

Below is a schedule for the beginning of the year:

  • Preschool – Orientation dates are August 31st & September 1st. Your child will attend for 1 hour on one of these days – see sheet attached. Regular classes will begin on Tuesday, September 5th.
  • Kindergarten – Orientation dates are August 24th, 25th.. Your child will attend (in a small group) on one of these days – see sheet attached. Children enrolled to stay all day in kindergarten will begin their extended day the week of August 28th.
  • Children in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd grades will begin August 23rd (8:45-2:30).
  • Please note that Friday, August 25th will be an early dismissal day (11:30) for all children in grades Kindergarten thru 3rd grade for our Malone freshman “Into the Streets” students to come work.

Also…we have a “drop-off” & “pick-up” line for all children 3s class thru 3rd grade. Primary school instruction begins at 8:45AM. Doors will open for drop-off at 8:35AM. Preschool begins at 9:00AM. Preschool children may be dropped off at 8:50AM. More detailed instruction about “drop-off’ & “pick-up” will be presented at Parent Orientation. We appreciate your cooperation!

All paperwork for your child’s file must be turned in by their first day of school. Forms can be mailed to the school at 515 48th ST NW Canton, OH 44709 or brought to Parent Orientation. Also, your first tuition payment is due by August 10th. If you have not enrolled in the automatic payment option you can mail your check to the school. Your prompt payment is appreciated!

Supply List for children in Kindergarten – 3rd Grades:

  • 1 pack of Highlighters (any colors)
  • 1-blue plastic folder (without tabs)
  • 1-ream of white copy paper (or more if you’d like)☺
  • 1-box of tissues
  • Boys: 1- box gallon size Ziploc bags
  • Girls: 1- box sandwich size Ziploc bags
  • 1- container Clorox/Lysol wipes
  • 2- rolls of paper towels
  • Backpack
  • 3- large glue sticks
  • 1- dry erase marker (black)

 

In addition to the above Grades 1st-3rd will also need:

  • 1- 1” 3-ring binder (any color)

 

In addition to the above Grades 2nd-3rd will also need:

  • 1- wide ruled composition notebook
